Dictionary Definitions
- n., 1. Any paper, parchment or other material on which is recorded or marked anything that is capable of being read or understood by a person, computer system or other device, and includes a credit card, but does not include trade-marks on articles of commerce or inscriptions on stone or metal or other like material. 2. Includes a plan of survey and any certificate, affidavit, statutory declaration or other proof as to the birth, baptism, marriage, divorce, death, burial, descendants or pedigree of any person, or as to the existence or non-existence, happening or non-happening of any fact, event or occurrence upon which the title to land may depend, a notice of sale, or other notice necessary to the exercise of any power of sale or appointment or other power relating to land, and a receipt for payment of money under a registered instrument. 3. Includes an assignment, a renewal statement, an affidavit and a certificate of discharge. 4. Includes books, maps, places, drawings, and photographs. 5. Includes summons, notice, order, certificate, register and legal process. 6. In addition to its usual meaning, includes an entry in a book or a register. 7. An order, regulation, bylaw, rule, schedule, contract, report, return or statement, or a copy thereof, or an amendment thereto or a copy of an amendment thereto, or any other document, that is required by any Act to be laid before or submitted to the Legislative Assembly at any session. 8.
